The number of Syrian refugees in Turkey has increased significantly in the last two days. As reported by Reuters, Wednesday, June 13, 2012, approximately 2,000 people across Syria to Turkey within the last 48 hours, following the conflict in the country's capital Damascus.
According to the Spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkey, Selcuk Unal, that number had increased the number of refugees in Turkey, with a total of about 29 500 people. To note, these figures are the highest number of refugees in Turkey since the conflict broke out in Syria, 15 months ago.
Than 2,000 refugees, as many as 43 Syrians have to be hospitalized due to injury. Meanwhile, Turkey has provided protection for over 50,000 citizens of Syria since March 2011. However, thousands of whom have returned to their homes in Syria.
Syria Denies Civil War
Meanwhile, Syrian Foreign Ministry denied the claims of the Head of UN Peacekeeping Team Herve Ladsous that there has been civil war in Syria.
"Talk of civil war in Syria is not consistent with reality. What happened in Syria was a war against armed groups chooses terrorism," said Syrian Foreign Ministry as reported by the Syrian news agency SANA.
Previously Ladsou say, the conflict that began with peaceful protest action against the power of President Bashar al-Assad has developed into a civil war in which Damascus seeks to retake most of the urban areas of armed opposition.
"Obviously what happened is the Syrian government lost several large areas in many cities of the opposition and wanted to reclaim the territory," he said.
As we all know it was the first senior UN official said that Syria's conflict as a civil war. Earlier the UN also said Assad forces have killed more than 10,000 people since the beginning of the rebellion. Syria claim that Islamic Shiite militants have killed 2,600 troops and police.
